Customer Reviews for: Coby Electronics TF-DVD7107 7-Inch Portable DVD Player

Rating 2 out of 5 - Lasted all of 6 months
We wanted something for our son to use on long plane trips but with a 4 hour battery, it was a bit limited. No problem, except that now 6 months after purchasing the sound no longer works. That IS a problem. What a waste of money.

Rating 1 out of 5 - good for a few months of use
The first player I received did not work at all. The PLAY button just fell off when I pushed it. I contacted Amazon customer service, and got a new one within two days. That one worked well for about 6 months. Then it started shutting down, it did not load a DVD showing 'Wrong Disc' error, and it started skipping chapters no matter if the DVD was brand new and free of any scratches. I cleaned the laser but it did not help. Don't buy it unless you plan to use it for a few months, and then throw it out.

Rating 3 out of 5 - Could Be Much Better..Even For The Low Price.
The battery life of the player is ONLY (4) HOURS! You have to charge it for (4) hours when you take it out of the box, just to get (4) hours of battery play. Then "LOW BATTERY" flashes on the screen. You can plug in the charger WHILE viewing a dvd!- which is GREAT, coz you won't lose your place in the movie!!... The remote is somewhat USELESS. There is NO volume controls on the remote. And if you push the "off" button on the remote, the screen goes off, but the player's power light is set on "red"( for "off"), but still usng your battery life....> Remember to ALWAYS switch on or switch off the power button on the left side of the player to TRULY reserve the battery life...... Even if you turned the player off with the remote..... Look for the power lights for the remote/player, on the bottom/front of player. The charger light is on the right side of player........The headphones are CRAP! They won't stay on your head or on your ears to hear anything. ..Scrap the players' headphone, and use a BETTER headphones for private use. You'll be happy you did!........ The buttons on the player, mostly are "arrows". So, pressing the buttons are useless, coz you don't know what you're pressing! So you HAVE to use the remote ALWAYS, to know what to do!!The screen is "cute", but VERY clear. Since I wear glasses to read, I have to wear them to view the screen also. Maybe that's just me.......I LOVE how the player looks like a sony vaio laptop. Silver top, silver display, black screen and bottom. But, the player is HEAVY to lift/carry in a "closed position". lghter when in "opened position".I would NOT recommend the kids carry this in their hands. They can drop it, due to the weight of the player.....There is also a "fan" to keep your player/dvd's cool with long play....All in all, it's a useable player if you're not a "top brand name-ONLY" consumer. If you just want a player to play your movies for a quick break in your hectic day, all for yourself, away from the cartoons, elections, daily chores and job complaints, or to calm frazzled nerves....then this player is for you.I bought (2), one for myself {to finally watch my Dark Shadows serials}, and another one for my son, to watch those dreadful spongebob dvd's. :o)We've had ours for (2) weeks now......Thank You for reading my review today.
